(WTNH) -- Former UConn Huskies return at the request of Jim Calhoun for the biannual charity classic. The event took place at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Ray Allen and many others returned because of their love and respect for Calhoun. The cause is certainly worthwhile, as the proceeds go toward cardiac research. "I came to the University of Connecticut and he took me under his wing," Carlon Butler, of the Washington Wizards, said of Coach Calhoun. "He embraced me...like a family...I always feel home when I come to Connecticut." "We're all like his kids, like his sons," Ray Allen, of the Boston Celtics, said of his former coach. 2010 is the next scheduled classic. |
