(WTNH) _ Track and Field star Tamara Highsmith was an all state selection at East Haven High School. An all American at UConn, Highsmith hopes the next team she represents is team USA.

Highsmith appears to have it all: looks, brains and athletic ability. She even has a job already. So, what's wrong with her? Many may say, 'nothing.'

to those who know her best, Highsmith is all American in everyway.

But what separates her from the rest is her ability to jump. Not many, in the country, do it better than Highsmith. "I have the right body for a jumper," Highsmith said. "Long legs, almost 6 feet tall, so that helps and I'm really just a competitive person."

A 4-year-star for the Huskies, Highsmith can do it all. Her best event is the triple jump. This year, at the Big East Outdoor Championships, Highsmith set a new conference record with a jump of 44 feet. "That was pretty cool," Highsmith said.

Highsmith has been invited to the Olympic trials in Oregon. The goal:  to qualify for this summer's games in China. "I have so much more I can do but knowing that you're a step away from doing something really big, it's a cool feeling," Highsmith said. "Just my technique could get better, my run could get better and that alone if I just do like half of that I could add another foot on my jump."

Which might be good enough to make the Olympic team. Either way, Highsmith has already landed on her feet, before she even graduated. She had a job waiting at United Technologies in Hartford which she starts in June. "Yeah it was pretty exciting," Highsmith said. "I got that in the fall, so I have that all out of the way, so I could relax my senior year knowing I'm employed and getting a salary."

Which is nice when there are bills to pay. Highsmith shares a house with a couple of her teammates, the cable bill is a priority. "I love Disney Channel," Highsmith said.
