(WTNH) _ The men and women basketball teams from the University of Connecticut are gearing up for the NCAA tournament.
The men took an early exit in the Big East Tournament last week with a lose to West Virginia. Since then, they've been practicing hard as the Number 4 seed in the East. They'll take on San Diego in the first round Friday afternoon around 3 p.m. in Tampa. San Diego secured a spot in the tournament after winning the West Coast Conference Tournament this weekend, upsetting Gonzaga in the final. The UConn women will open tournament play Sunday night in Bridgeport against Cornell. As the top seed in the Greensboro, North Carolina region, expectations for the Huskies are extremely high. They're also the number one overall seed in the tournament. This year's senior class is eager to leave its mark on the Connecticut program since they've never made it to a Final Four game. The women haven't lost an opening round game since 1993. |
