(WTNH) _ College soccer's biggest award, the Hermann Trophy, went to UConn's All-American forward, O'Brian White.

White had a fantastic junior year, leading all Division I players in points and goals.

White was presented the Hermann Trophy last month in St. Louis and was honored on the UConn campus upon his return.

"It's very exciting. I got to thank my teammates, my family, my coaches, the goal patrol," White said. "Just the support we get from everyone at UConn, it's a great accomplishment but I couldn't have done it without them."

After being only the third UConn player to win the trophy, White will be returning to Storrs for his senior season.

"I just want to come back and graduate and then hopefully we can reach a Final Four, maybe win a championship. That would be a great way to finish the season," he said.

Two of White's former teammates are now professional soccer players. Julius James plays for Toronto and Ryan Cordeiro plays for D.C. United.
