    Notre Dame senior forward Brittany Bock and senior defender Elise Weber have been named to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Women's Soccer Team. Bock earned the honor for the second consecutive year, receiving first-team accolades this season after third-team laurels a year ago. Meanwhile, Weber was tabbed a second-team Academic All-America in the one and only season she was eligible for the award (due to her transfer from the University of Wisconsin in the summer of 2007). "They are amazing ambassadors for our program and our University, and they truly personify everything it means to be a college student-athlete," Notre Dame head coach Randy Waldrum said.

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Five BIG EAST men's soccer teams earned berths into the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship field of 48. The BIG EAST has three top 12 seeds for the third time since the NCAA began naming 16 top seeds in the bracket in 2003.

    Three BIG EAST women's soccer teams advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Championship with wins on Friday night. Rutgers (13-6-1) posted a 2-1 overtime victory over No. 20/19 Penn State in the most exciting game of the evening. Top-seed Notre Dame (22-0-0) rolled over Toledo 5-2 while No. 12/13 West Virginia (14-2-6) beat Princeton 2-1 in Charlottesville, Va.

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. – St. John's, the BIG EAST Red Division regular-season champion, took three of the six top honors at the annual awards banquet to kick off the 2008 BIG EAST Men's Soccer Championship. Junior Joel Gustafsson was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, while teammate and classmate Nelson Becerra was honored as the Midfielder of the Year. Veteran St. John's head Coach Dave Masur and his staff were selected as the BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year. For the second straight year, Connecticut senior O'Brian White was tabbed as Offensive Player of the Year. West Virginia's Zach Johnson earned BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year accolades. Louisville's Colin Rolfe was named Rookie of the Year. It was the first time a Louisville player had earned an individual men's soccer award. Fourteen BIG EAST men's soccer programs were honored, and 11 teams received multiple all-conference honors.
