(Friday, November 21, 2008) - The University of Connecticut men’s hockey team returned home against the Rochester Institute of Technology for their first home series since the weekend of October 24 and 25 when they swept Army. Since that sweep, the Huskies (3-8-0, 3-3-0 Atlantic Hockey) went on a six-game skid which was snapped Friday in a 2-1 win over RIT(4-7-1, 3-3-1 Atlantic Hockey). UConn won their third game of the year, all of which have come at the Mark E. Freitas Ice Forum.

Van Isschot was named the men's BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week after being part of two record setting relays in the win. Bergstrom earns the women's BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week honor with a pair of first-place finishes in two breaststroke events.

Junior Andrew Bumbalough led the Hoyas with a time of 23:55 in the men's 8,000-meter race. Senior Frances Koons paced the Wildcat women with a 20:13 finish on the 6,000-meter race.

Home to the 2008 Olympic Diving Trials, the swim center is part of the IUPUI Sports Complex on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. The championships will be held Feb. 18-21, 2009.

Syracuse University women's lacrosse head coach Gary Gait has been named the Northeast Region Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). In his first year at the helm of the program, Gait led the Orange to a school-record 18 wins, the BIG EAST regular-season and championship titles and an appearance in the national semifinals of the NCAA Championship for the first time in school history.
